Summary:
The
presentation begins with a brief overview of the Allhat
study. The pharmacology of antihypertensive agents, antiarrhythmics,
anticoagulants and platelet aggregation inhibitors
and antihyperlipidemic agents is
presented.
The
mechanism of action, precautions, and adverse reactions of each class is
reviewed with emphasis on clinically significant food-medication and
herbal/dietary supplement-medication interactions. Case studies throughout the
presentation offer practical applications and “real life” situations.
